Lunch Money

Original Friend

It’s been a couple of years but the trio Lunch Money is back with their third release, Original Friend. Aside from being one of the hippest kindie bands out right now, Lunch Money simply makes great music with songs seemingly straight from the mind of a child. Original Friend really expands the band’s music talent further than ever. With the addition of horns, flutes and even an accordion, this latest offering will appeal to everyone without sounding like the band is trying to simply please everyone. Another bonus on this album is the guest appearances from top kindie artists like Frances England, Dean Jones and Secret Agent 23 Skidoo. Whether it’s an invitation to bring Boba Fett and Skeletor over to a dollhouse party, the fun of blowing bubbles from a window over a busy sidewalk or even dealing with a friend moving away, Lunch Money delivers top-quality tunes the whole family will enjoy for many hours and many car trips.

ScribbleMonster & His Pals

Look Both Ways

On one hand this is your typical ScribbleMonster album, but on the other hand it’s not. There’s no shortage of excellent songs to get you moving around just like their past albums, but thirty-something parents might recognize most of these songs. They are all classic Sesame Street tunes in that patented ScribbleMonster style. Of course if you’re going to record Sesame Street songs you have to start off with the theme song and oh yeah, it rocks. ScribbleJim and company have picked out quite a collection of timeless songs from The Street like “Five People in My Family”, “Clink, Clank” and “Loud and Soft”. My favorite is “I Want to Hold You Ear “. Even with the rock and roll ramped-up, these songs still have that traditional Sesame Street feel. ScribbleMonster & His Pals also employ the help of their musical friends like Steve Weeks and Racer Steve (of Princess Katie & Racer Steve fame). Look Both Ways is a great collection of songs parents will be able to share with their kids and also remember when Sesame Street focused just as much on silly as they did education.
