Chattanooga Department of Parks and Recreation

The Parks and Recreation Department has 16 neighborhood recreation centers featuring gymnasiums, game rooms, art rooms, computer labs, community multipurpose rooms, ball fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, and much more.

Two mega recreation complexes South Chattanooga and Brainerd feature indoor swimming pools for year round aquatic activities.

Each center has a daily schedule of activities including after school reading and tutoring programs, seasonal sports activities & leagues, educational programs, fitness classes, art and enrichment classes, programs for teens and for senior adults.  The centers also host neighborhood association & community meetings, seasonal celebrations, and family events.

There are senior adult activity centers in the city.  In the Brainerd area, Eastgate Town Centre provides a variety of leisure and social activities. In North Chattanooga, the Frances B. Wyatt Center is a sports and Senior Olympics training facility.  The North River Civic Center in Hixson offer arts oriented programs specifically for adults and seniors.  
 
Also, the Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with the YMCA and the Chattanooga Housing Authority to reopened the Sheila M. Jennings Community Center adjacent to College Park on the Westside.
