Children who visit city recreation centers will have a chance to send a note or creative message to their new president, says Rhonda Seeber of Chattanooga’s Department of Parks and Recreation:
“We are coordinating activities in our recreation centers that will focus on the inauguration and Black History Month (February),” she says. “I am working with our rec center staffs to have their kids make cards of congratulations and best wishes, murals, journals with their poems, essays and drawings that we will actually send to Washington.”
“It was really important to emphasize that the other candidate is not a ‘bad guy’ or a ‘mean guy.’”

Research shows that if kids are engaged in society, they are less likely to experiment with risky behavior like drugs or violence.
“To raise our children to think for themselves is one of the most valuable gifts we can give them.”
